Content & links

This is the part that actually moves rankings, and the part everyone does badly. A page about Ringwood should contain something that is only true of Ringwood. Most suburb pages contain the suburb name four hundred times and nothing else.

Same day, written by a person, no obligation. We only use your details to send the audit. Or email louie@superseo.com.au.

The problem

You can tell a swapped template in one paragraph.

The standard suburb page is written once and then find-and-replaced. “Looking for a trusted plumber in Ringwood? Our Ringwood plumbers have been serving Ringwood families for over twenty years.” Forty of them, identical.

Google has spent a decade learning to ignore that. More to the point, so has your customer — and so has the tradie you are trying to win as a client, who can tell within a sentence whether the person writing it has ever been to the suburb.

What that produces

Four suburbs, four completely different pages.

These are from this site. Each one took a morning to find and none of them could be written about anywhere else.

01

Ringwood — built before it had a sewer

The first house here was connected to the metropolitan sewerage system in 1964, and the trunk sewer serving the area was not started until 1971. By 1966 the municipality already held 29,141 people. So the drains under much of Ringwood were retrofitted into established gardens rather than laid with the house — under some of the heaviest tree canopy in metropolitan Melbourne. That is a blocked-drain page nobody else can write.

02

Melbourne CBD — the search inverts

99.2% apartments, 71% rented, average household 1.7 people, and almost none of it existed before 1992. It is the only place we have measured where the emergency search beats the ordinary one — a thousand a month against 210, five to one. Because the person with the problem is renting, alone, at 3am, and does not own the pipe.

03

Pakenham — expansive ground, shallow water

A geotechnical report commissioned by Pakenham's own council says the alluvium and the residual granitic clays “should be considered expansive”, with laboratory plasticity indices of 32–42 and 44–50, over a water table typically less than five metres down. Under slab-on-ground housing where nine in ten residents arrived after 1991. Modern stock, moving ground.

04

Footscray — quarried, tipped, landscaped

“Many sports fields throughout Footscray are former quarries now filled in” — and those sites served as rubbish tips through the fifties and sixties before becoming recreation land. The council states the contamination legacy directly in its own structure plan. Nobody in that market has written it up, because it takes a morning in a local history archive.

The unusual part

We publish the findings that go against us.

Research produces inconvenient answers. The normal response is to quietly drop them. We put them on the page.

Ringwood's whole physical story is tree roots in old clay pipe. We then found that “pipe relining ringwood” has no search volume at all, and the nearest national term gets twenty a month at a difficulty five times the suburb term. Both halves are on that page.

Craigieburn is getting Class A recycled water plumbed into ordinary homes — genuinely unusual, and “recycled water plumbing melbourne” is a flat zero. Pakenham has thousands of properties scheduled to come off septic, and ten people a month search for it nationally.

Links

A handful of real local mentions beats a hundred directories.

Businesses actually near you

The trader association. The club you sponsor. The builder you sub for. The supplier you buy from. These are relationships you already have, and they happen to be the links that count locally.

Citations, consistently

The directories that matter, with your name, address and phone identical on every one. Inconsistent name strings are the single most common reason a citation set never consolidates.

Things worth linking to

The most reliable way to earn a link is to publish something nobody else has bothered to find. That is the same research the suburb pages run on, which is why the two halves of this service are one service.

The rest of it

This is one of four, and they only work together.

A perfect profile on a broken site loses. A perfect site nobody links to loses more slowly.

Local SEO

The whole programme, month by month, and how the four fit together.

Google Business Profile

The map pack. Three spots, decided by your profile rather than your site.

Technical & on-page

The site underneath. Crawlable, indexable, and not competing with itself.
