Who we help / Plumbers / Brunswick
SEO for plumbers in Brunswick
“Plumber brunswick” and its spellings are searched 480 times a month. One business owns the map. Advertisers pay A$42 a click to sit above it. The ordinary list of results underneath scores 4 out of 100 for difficulty — about as soft as it gets. That gap is what this page is about.

First, the basics
Three ways to show up. They are not the same thing.
Worth two minutes, because the rest of this page keeps them apart.
The ads
Paid slots at the very top. You bid, you pay per click, you are there this afternoon. Decided by your credit card.
The map
Three businesses. That is the whole map pack. Fourth place is a link nobody taps. Decided by your Google profile: how close you are to the person searching, your categories, your hours, your reviews. Your website barely comes into it.
The list
The ordinary results underneath. Decided by your website: your pages, your words, the sites linking to you. When we say “organic” further down, this is what we mean.
The local picture
Why Brunswick needs its own page.
Most of Brunswick went up between the 1880s and the 1930s. The old housing stock is around 90 to 110 years old.
It was built on clay. The brickworks that made the suburb were digging the same reactive soil that sits under every house here. That soil swells and shrinks with the seasons. What moves with it are hundred-year-old clay sewer lines.
The same age shows up inside the walls. Galvanised supply pipe was standard until about 1975 and lasts 40 to 50 years. Anything original in Brunswick is well past that. Rust narrows the bore, the pressure drops, the water browns.
What Brunswick's housing stock is actually worth in search
Every row is a real figure from a keyword tool, Australia-wide. The point of a suburb page isn't volume — it's the gap between what advertisers pay and what nobody has bothered to rank for.
There are two markets here, not one. The pre-war houses are owner-occupiers renovating. Most have no side access, because the land was subdivided tight along the Sydney Road tram and the Upfield line.
The apartments and townhouses built since the 1990s, mostly in Brunswick East, are renters and bodies corporate.
Demand
What Brunswick actually types.
Small numbers. Do not write the suburb off yet — the interesting column is not this one.

Australia-wide figures, September 2026. Suburb-level lookups return zero because they sit below the tool’s resolution — a data gap rather than an absence of demand, so we don’t quote them.

Somebody has already worked out what this search is worth. They are paying A$42 a click for it.

Cost per click comes out of the keyword tool in US dollars. Converted here at 1 USD = 1.395 AUD, September 2026, with the US figure shown beside each one.
| Share of searches captured by #1 | Monthly clicks | Equivalent ad cost | Campaign cost | Value vs ads |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| One-third (the rule of thumb) | 160 | A$6,720 | A$1,500 | 4.5× |
| One-quarter | 120 | A$5,040 | A$1,500 | 3.4× |
| One-sixth | 80 | A$3,360 | A$1,500 | 2.2× |
| One-tenth | 48 | A$2,016 | A$1,500 | 1.3× |
| 7.5% (break-even) | 36 | A$1,512 | A$1,500 | 1.0× |
Halve the assumption, halve it again, and the campaign still wins. It only stops winning below 7.5%, and that is the whole point — the case does not rest on the rule of thumb being right.

160 clicks a month is an estimate, not a measurement — roughly a third of 480 searches, which is the usual rule of thumb. A top ad and a top organic result do not really take the same share, so treat it as a common yardstick. It is applied to both columns, so the shape of the gap holds even if the true number is half that. The ads bill scales with the clicks. Ours does not.
A tradie campaign with us typically runs A$1,500 a month. Cheaper ones hold a position rather than chase new ground. Dearer ones are for operators who want to take the suburb apart. A$1,500 is the middle, not the door price.
Two things make our column look worse than it is. That A$1,500 buys the whole campaign, not just this one search. And year one of SEO is not year one of traffic. The page takes months to reach the top. That first A$18,000 buys the ranking as well as the clicks.
The whole suburb, priced
Three searches. Two of them have a rate. All three are under five in the list.
| Search | A month | Organic difficulty | Paid difficulty | Cost per click |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “plumber brunswick” | 480 | 4 | 84 | A$42 |
| “blocked drain brunswick” | 110 | 2 | 11 | no rate |
| “emergency plumber brunswick” | 70 | 3 | 91 | A$54 |
Pulled 4 September 2026. Cost per click converted from US dollars at 1 USD = 1.395 AUD. “No rate” means the tool reports no cost per click for that search. At a paid difficulty of 11, there is barely an auction there to report on.
Timing
Burst pipes peak in winter. Rankings don't.
Hot water systems fail and pipes split when it gets cold. June through August is when the phone should be running hot. Rankings take months to move. They do not turn up because the weather did.
Shape is indicative — a seasonal curve, not measured Brunswick data. Confirm against the client's own Search Console before quoting it as fact.
The work
What we'd actually do for a Brunswick plumber.
A real page for this suburb — the list
Not a template with the name swapped. The jobs you actually do here. The streets and pockets you know. Photos of work in the area. This is what separates you from the plumber listing forty suburbs on one page.
Service area set honestly — the map
Your Google profile set to the suburbs you will genuinely drive to, not all of Melbourne. Overreaching waters you down everywhere. Being specific is what gets you onto the map.
Local links and citations — both
Mentions from businesses actually in the area. The trader association. The footy club you sponsor. The builder you sub for. Worth more than a hundred generic directories.
Reviews that name the suburb — the map
A review saying “came out to our place in Brunswick on a Sunday” does something a five-star with no words does not. We give you the ask that gets those without it sounding scripted.
The competition
Who's already holding the three spots.
Two real plumbing businesses. Both work Brunswick. Both scanned on the same search, on the same day. Names and addresses removed.
This is the map, not the list. Every pin is one spot in the suburb. The number on it is where that business came up for someone standing there.
Two businesses. Same area. Same keyword.
“plumber brunswick”, checked from 64 points across Brunswick and the suburbs around it.
Only green counts. Three businesses fit on the map. Green means they are on it. Every other colour means they are not.
Orange is the next band down: they turn up in the fuller local list, but not in the pack. Red is further down again. Dark red is not visible at all. In this scan the orange pins run 5th to 7th and the red ones 8th to 14th.
The score in the corner is the average position across all 64 points. Lower is better. Do not let 9.9 fool you — an average is not a ranking, and the pins tell you what it actually means.
